The Australian Government provides funding for the curriculum known as "The Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) Programme." Training medical graduates to become "Specialist General Practitioners/Specialist Medical Practitioners" is the main goal of this curriculum. In other words, the course is a pathway to becoming a General Practitioner (GP); Registrars who complete this curriculum have the advantage of functioning as a GP anywhere across the nation without direct supervision.
